How Dare I

Heaven forbid I decide to claim my sexuality, as the tool it is, in this patriarchal society

Heaven forbid I use this to carve out some sort of safety for myself

Heaven forbid I no longer have to perform emotional labor that no-one ever speaks of

In exchange for monetary security

All of this, coming from my sexuality

How dare I

I stepped out of line?

I think

I used what’s mine

How dare I refuse your condescending opinion

And form my own

Think for myself?

What have I become

How dare I take intelligence of the heart and give it a voice through my art

How Dare I
