Love

There is nothing you can do to escape the loss that fills life.

You will love things, people, places, ideas, only to have them ripped from you, at some point.

You will come crashing to your knees, in grief.

You cannot escape the ruthless hands of life, but you can lean in to her all seeing eyes.

Love.

Love isn’t something to attain, only if its safe.

It isn’t something you hope never changes and never goes away.

Its beauty lies in its impermanence.

For even if you find someone to spend the rest of your life with, even if you live a happy life together, one of you will die first.

Your family will die, you will die.

Love.

I do not love someone for the way I feel I will never lose them.

I know I will.

I know everything is lost eventually.

And I know, this, this impermanence is the key to love.

I know this natural rhythm of birth and death, is showing me something.

It’s showing me how to love.

To feel with every caliber of my being, knowing it could be ripped away at any moment.

That impermanence the very serum for true bravery.

That potion we try so hard to run from.

Aging. Dying. Losing people we love.

These ingrained systems reflected in everything

Are the keys to love.

Are what love is birthed from.

Our temporariness breeds passion, it sets forth the fire of creation.

I will love with all of me, even if I am scared I will break if that person is taken away by whatever tragedy.

Love Is Worth It

I will not turn away from the sadder faces of love.

That of the old man who’s wife died first.

Because he’s still so happy he got to know her.

See, love isn’t about attainment.

There is no finish line where I will be safe and things will never change.

Nowhere I can run from the humbling of what really loving has done.

Only completely, and utterly

Human.

Beautifully written 💜. Love and being in love is one of the best feelings in the world.

This post triggered one of my favorite songs, Cunninlynguists – Love Ain’t.
Check it out. Let me know what you think.
